President's
Message
by Tracey Amernick, CPCE

I first want to wish you
all a Happy New Year, with hopes that it is both healthy
and prosperous. Thanks to the many chapter members for
the many wonderful contributions in 2004.
The Board met for a half-day
retreat in December, and charted a new course for 2005.
By the way, there are some interim openings on the Board
until our next elections. The Board offers great professional
and personal growth opportunities
Having just returned from
the 2005 NACE Leadership Conference, attended by Judy Anderson, CPCE, Judy Pratt and Chris Agrippe, CPCE, I returned energized,
reinforcing my thoughts on why I am so proud to be a
member of NACE, and especially honored to be President.
We enjoyed outstanding leadership training and learned
exciting ideas to bring back to you. There were 125
attendees from around the country, with unanimous compliments
to our chapter about their Conference 2004 experience
in San Diego.
|
The Chapter's share of
the Conference profits was announced, and we were presented
with a generous check rewarding our efforts.
At our February meeting,
we rolled out our 2005 San Diego NACE Scholarship program,
which is based on accumulating points for your involvement
in the chapter, which will determine scholarship funding
to the annual NACE Educational, Regional, and Leadership
Conferences.
Opportunities to acrue
points include, serving on the Board. hosting a meeting,
donating raffle prizes, signing up a new member, or
receiving your CPCE certification.
We have a CPCE study group,
meeting each Monday, February through April. With the
CPCE designation on your business card, your clients
will know that you've taken the time and shown the dedication
to become certified in your field. It really does make
a difference in your business.
2005 is a happening year.
Our newsletter is now to be updated monthly, right here
in our fresh web site. We have innovative new programs,
and and on behalf of our Board, we look forward to welcoming
you, and hope that you can join us at every dinner meeting!

Our
February
Meeting
by Mike Hogan
San Diego NACE sails into the Dana
and fills the house.
Our first meeting of the New Year was
held on February 1rst at the Dana on Mission Bay. What
a way to kick off 2005, with a fantastic turnout of over
120 members and guests our program speaker Tom Quiner
did not disappoint. He was sponsored by San Diego Style
Weddings and The Event Gallery at Truso and gave us some
great tips how to maximize marketing efforts and turn
calls and e-mails into $$$$.
The entire team at the Dana stepped up
a delivered a wonderful event; from Lobster Spring Rolls
to Chocolate Lava Cake the food was sumptuous. If you
haven't seen the new Mission Bay Ballroom at the Dana
it is stunning, with 18 foot glass walls and a bay view
it could stand on its own.
Thanks to Jennifer Cole
Floral Designs and BBJ Linens for taking a great space
and putting on the finishing touches. Check out the photos
taken by Brant Bender of Phoenix Photography to truly
appreciate how beautiful everything looked. Also thanks
to Stone Brewing Company, Southern Wine and Spirits, So
Cal Ice and Music as you like it for pitching in with
product and talent. See you next month at the Sheraton
Mission Valley for another great night of food, friends
and new ideas!

What's
up for 2005?
Your community service committee
is planning what we will do for the community in 2005.
We are busy on an April Clothing Drive, as well as thinking
about little bunnies for our annual Bunnies for Babes
campaign. HOWEVER, the biggest project we are working
on is about to begin.
Back by popular demand,
the Taste of Nace, is scheduled for Fall 2005.
Not only will our food and beverage purveyors want to
be involved with this event, our affiliate members will
be encouraged to join in as well. Location and details
will be forthcoming.
March - "Bunnies for
Babes" Sale of Bunnies continues $5-$10 bunnies.
April - Clothing Drive- More info coming
