Our
June Meeting
by Chris
Agrippe CPCE
"Making
your BRAND
count "
hosted
by the Estancia,
La Jolla
|
|
| by: Chris Agrippe, CPCE:
Our
June San
Diego NACE
meeting was
a lunch event
at the Estancia
Hotel and Spa
in La Jolla,
hosted by our
Nace Member,
Erica Hinshaw
along with her
associate Terry
Bucholtz. Her
Catering Team,
led by Liz
Gonzalez
and Doug
Baker
produced a well-paced
yet relaxing
luncheon, with
timing and service
that was perfect
for over
100
of our busy
Affiliates and
Caterers who
needed to make
it back to their
offices by 1:30pm.
Indeed, we were
walking out
the door by
1:10pm |

Estancia Courtyard

|
| Dena
Nolan Malasek
of San Diego Style
Weddings
sponsored this
month's speaker,
Steve
Lewandowski,
whose down-to-earth
delivery and enthusiasm
was perfect for
an afternoon event.
Steve also presented
a full morning
session on "Branding
Your Business"
for NACE members
and their guests,
and his message
appealed to both
Affiliates and
Caterers alike.
The message: nurture
your brand, guard
your brand, market
your brand, and
don't let it fizzle.
It represents
your image, your
integrity, your
reputation. Once
you invest in
it, don't let
it die. |

|
| The
noon-time reception
began with butler-passed
Passionfruit
Cocktails, Grilled
Peach Bruschetta,
and decadent
Lobster BLT's
accompanied by
the flamenco guitar
of Anthony
Garcia.
Some attendees
chose to take
a guided walking
tour of the property
and were treated
to the fragrances
of the lush flowering
gardens amidst
the distinctive
Southwestern architecture. |

|
| At
11:45 we moved
into the ballroom
set crescent-style
with Chivari
chairs by Classic
Party Rentals.
Square tables
of six were draped
with rich floor-length
olive linens and
set with earth-toned
chargers complimenting
the celadon and
amber-accented
decor. Beautiful
flowering orchid
centerpieces were
donated by Scott
and Lisa of Botanica
and the arrangements
added an essence
of Zen to the
room. |
|
| Lunch
was well-designed
by Executive
Chef Jesse Frost,
and began with
Watermelon
Salad with Salt-Roasted
Prawns, Baby Organic
Beets, and Pomegranate
Syrup.
This was followed
by the dual entrée
of Seared
Yellow Fin Tuna
with Braised Short
Ribs sided with
Corn Blue Cheese
Mashed Potatoes,
Grilled Asparagus
and Poivrade Sauce.
Desserts were
Raspberry Adelias,
Chocolate Dipped
Strawberries,
Espresso Mousse
Cups, and Lemmon
Tartlets served
family-style,
and had just the
right amount of
sugar to get us
back on our feet
for the rest of
an afternoon at
work. The entire
meal was designed
to be eaten during
a presentation,
so there were
very little interruptions
of sliver on china.
|
 |
| At
the conclusion
of the luncheon
we had the pleasure
of meeting General
Manager Guiseppe
Lama who
addressed our
group and told
us how proud he
was to have us
at his property.
It's not often
that General Managers
can take the time
from their busy
schedules to address
our group, and
we were equally
honored to have
the pleasure of
meeting him. |
 |
| We
received wonderful
feedback on this
program, and we
look forward to
producing a lunchtime
event again in
the future. We're
blessed here in
San Diego to have
so many new and
magnificant member
properties, and
we will have a
sumptuous time
sampling their
fare as they offer
NACE that "special
treatment"
when we come calling.
See you on August
14, at the beautiful
new IVY
HOTEL,
in downtown San
Diego, when we
reconvene in August.
Have a wonderful
summer until we
dine together
again. |

I
had the pleasure
to introduce
Melissa Darisay,
President
and CEO of
Eurobar Espresso.
She runs this
full service

cappuccino
bar catering
company, celebrating
10 years of

Melissa spent
over eight years
living in Northern
British Columbia,
Canada, on a
remote island
– a place
that she terms
her “private
Idaho”
when she needs
to “get
away from the
concrete jungle
to a more serene
place”.
What was she
doing there?
Running a coffee
house, of course!
Melissa
is also an ACE
certified personal
trainer,
specializing
in post-rehab
and the baby-boomer
and up set.
Melissa has
personal training
clients on top
of running Eurobar.
She just enjoys
being busy,
filling her
days with work
that she loves
to do of course!
I
hope you got
a chance to
sample something
delicious from
Eurobar
Espresso at
our June meeting.
If not, we’ll
be sure to spotlight
her again at
another event
so you can taste
why Eurobar
is a successful
standout in
the industry!
Showcasing
is just that
easy…interested?

Community
Service
by
Nancy Changnon-Baron
CPCE
2007: Friends of Scott
This year, we've chosen Friends of Scott as the foundation to direct our community service and fundraising for. Friends of Scott is a non-profit organization that was founded in memory of Scott Delgadillo who lost his life to childhood cancer. The Friends of Scott Foundation (FSF) is committed to helping children with cancer and their families. San Diego NACE will help to contribute money and support, to ensure they receive the emotional and financial support needed to cope with this devastating disease. FSF strives to bring Childhood Cancer Awareness to the community.
If you would like to participate on this committee for this very worthy cause, members are always needed and welcome. Please contact: Nancy Changnon-Baron, CPCE
